Tulsa's New Cyber Skills Center

It’s official! I’m excited to announce my new role as Director of the Cyber Skills Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Newly launched, the vision of the Cyber Skills Center is to help build a dynamic and inclusive tech sector in Tulsa. An incredible community-wide effort with a dedicated focus on providing opportunities to Tulsans who have traditionally been underserved.

The Tulsa Innovation Lab identified cybersecurity and data analytics as two key job creation areas in its Tulsa Tech Niche study. There are more than 500,000 cybersecurity jobs open in the United States, with an average starting salary of $65,000. Data analytics and cybersecurity employment are expected to grow 22% and 33%, respectively, from 2020 to 2030. The Cyber Skills Center prepares Tulsans to enter cyber security and data science careers – two of the fastest-growing professions in the country.

This 24-week program will give Tulsans the opportunity to prepare for jobs of the future in cybersecurity and data analytics, with opportunities for apprenticeship placement or continuing education in a 2 or 4-year degree following completion of this program.

Who Should Apply?

Any adult in the Tulsa area.

You may already have the basic skills you need to succeed in cybersecurity or data analytics. The Cyber Skills Center accelerated program in cyber or data analytics will teach you to apply your core skills to new problems and equip you with the in-demand technical tools and skills to take your career to new levels.

This program is perfect for:

  • Career changers and upskillers

  • Those who want to advance their careers but aren’t ready to commit to a four-year degree

  • Transitioning military

  • Gamers, artists, and other creatives who want to get into a high-growth technology career

The next application will open in March 2023.

Benefits

The program is free for enrolled students, but there’s more: Thanks to our partnerships, when you successfully complete either of the two IT programs at the Cyber Skills Center, the credits you will have earned will count toward a degree at the Tulsa Community College and are transferable to other regional four-year higher education institutions.

We offer, at no cost to students:

  • Credits that transfer to our partner institutions

  • Skills applicable in a wide array of industries

  • Apprenticeship contract (paid) and workforce placement

  • Cost

  • Future-proofing your career
